Former US President Bill Clinton, 73, will be releasing a new detective novel, "The President's Daughter" in 2021, co-authored with author James Patterson, with whom he had previously collaborated for "The president has disappeared".

"Working with Bill Clinton is one of the successes of my career and I am delighted to be able to work with him again. I am pleased to announce our second novel, + The President's daughter +, and we look forward to bringing it to readers", James Patterson tweeted on Thursday.

The best-selling author co-signed in 2018 with former Democratic President "The President is missing", whose plot revolved around a cyberterrorist attacking the White House.

Sold with more than three million copies, this novel must soon be adapted into a television series starring David Oyelowo, according to the publisher's website.

Their new work, published by Knopf and Little, Brown, is due out in June 2021, and will deal with a threat of kidnapping on the daughter of a former president, according to a publisher's summary. It is not known if Bill Clinton was inspired by his only daughter, Chelsea, herself the author of several children's books.

"I never imagined writing a book with a storyteller like Jim, let alone two," said Bill Clinton, in a publisher's press release quoted by American media. "I think readers will enjoy reading + The President's Daughter + as I have enjoyed working on it."
