Several northern beaches reopen on Saturday, thanks to a derogation despite the fact that the department remains in the red zone. But access to the beaches will be done according to strict rules, and the grouping of ten people will remain prohibited.

REPORTAGE

Reopenings, but under conditions. In the North, several coastal beaches reopen this Saturday, from Dunkirk to Gravelines, via Zuydcoote, thanks to a prefectoral derogation obtained by the elected officials of the urban community of Dunkirk, despite the maintenance in the red zone of the department, where still circulates the coronavirus. Access to the beaches is possible for walks, swimming and individual sports, but groups of ten people and prolonged or "static" presence are prohibited. For their part, seaside shops will have to set up queuing corridors to guarantee the rules of social distancing.

"Of course people will come for a walk, but we hope they will be reasonable." Resident of the seafront, Catherine approves the strict rules of access to the beach of Malo-les-Bains, in the agglomeration of Dunkirk, decided by the authorities. There too, no gathering, nor sunbathing on the beach. A traffic direction on the dike is established, police checks will take place, and video surveillance is reinforced. Barrier ambassadors will also be deployed in the coming days.

The threat of a new closure

"In the beginning, we will undoubtedly have a certain number of people who will not know the rules of life well, so we may be a little lenient," explains Europe 1 Patrice Vergriete, mayor of Dunkirk. "On the other hand, he continues, when we feel that there is real bad faith and a non-will to respect the rule, there, the control will be much tighter. Because we also have the prospect of closing the embankment and the beach, if you really feel that it is not working well. "
