Linus Nilsson 16 years has not found any summer job yet. He runs the construction program in Motala and would like to find some practical summer job.

- It is noticeable that it is a bit more difficult in corona times, he says.

Corona pandemic has created great uncertainty regarding summer jobs for school-aged youth.

- In industries where it has previously been easy to get holiday jobs, in the maintenance industry, in staffing companies, in restaurants and in the retail sector, it is difficult due to corona to offer young people summer jobs, says Elizabeth Olivare's corporate adviser at Arbetsförmedlingen in Östergötland.

According to statistics from the Swedish Employment Service, this is a halving of the number of holiday job ads. Week 13 to 16 last year there were 503 ads. In the same period this year, there were only 228 ads.

Uncertainty: from 100 to 0

There are examples of employers in Östergötland who have previously been able to provide as much as 100 holiday jobs to young people, but where there is now no promise of a single job this year, because the situation is so uncertain. But there is still light in the corona darkness.

- In the real estate industry with jobs as gardeners, jobs in parks and as caretakers, we see no reduction. Even in the health care and grocery trade, there are still summer jobs to be had, says the corporate adviser at the Employment Service, Elizabeth Olivares. In the clip below there are more tips:
