April 15, 2020 There are over one million cases of coronaviruses in Europe, equal to just over half of the world number of infections. According to a count made by France presse, with at least 1,003,284 cases, including 84,465 deaths, Europe is the continent most affected by the pandemic. To date, 1,991,019 cases and 125,955 deaths have been recorded worldwide. Spain (177,633 cases and 18,579 deaths), Italy (162,488 cases and 21,067 deaths) France (143,303 cases and 15,729 deaths) and Germany (127,584 cases and 3,254 deaths) are the countries with more than 100,000 cases, while the United Kingdom (93,873 cases and 12,107 deaths) is the one that currently has the highest number of new cases every day.

In Spain the death toll from coronavirus continues to drop: in the last 24 hours another 523 deaths have been recorded (44 less than yesterday) for a total of 18,579. However, the number of infections increased by 5,092, the highest number since April 9, for a total of 177,633.

EU: gradual exit from restrictive measures needed
The European Commission recommends "a gradual approach to the exit of the lockdown, we need to see what the virus is doing before dissolving the restrictive measures". The President of the Commission, ursula von der Leyen, said this, illustrating the guidelines of the EU executive on restrictive measures following the coronavirus.
