Starting this Tuesday at six in the morning, some 500 Civil Protection and Red Cross volunteers will distribute 1.7 million masks to a hundred strategic points on the Catalan public transport network, most of them over a million. in Barcelona and its metropolitan area. The distribution will continue on Wednesday while supplies last and each volunteer will be accompanied by police officers to avoid incidents.

However, the Generalitat indicated that the distribution will be for employees who "irretrievably" have to travel by subway, train or bus to go to their workplace, so "tomorrow not everyone will have masks, only people who they have no choice but to use public transport, "said the director of Civil Protection of the Generalitat, Isabel Ferrer, who regretted the" improvisation against the clock "to make the distribution required by the Government, since they did not receive information until last Saturday. So he complained that the request comes with emergency services "stressed" by the alarm situation.

The intention is to distribute them in a hundred strategic points of the transport network throughout Catalonia until 11 in the morning and not in a general way. They will be given once the ticket is validated to everyone who needs it. From the Generalitat, users are urged to keep their distance from the volunteers who distribute them, as well as to follow the recommendations to wear a mask in the workplace when you cannot be a meter and a half from another person, along with washing their hands.

These masks are sent by the Government and are different from those that the Generalitat has bought, about 14 million single-use, which will be distributed from April 20 in pharmacies, one per person showing the health card. In addition, it is urged to avoid crowds for its distribution and workers will be prioritized.
