Closed like all schools since March 16 due to the coronavirus, the University of Nantes will remain so at least until the start of the new school year in September. This is what just announced this Wednesday its president Olivier Laboux. “In view of the uncertainties regarding the duration of confinement and the methods of deconfinement, we must assume our responsibilities in the interest of our students. This is why we have decided that classes will not resume face-to-face before the summer holidays. "

A decision was also made for the second semester exams. "The assessment of knowledge will be done remotely," says Olivier Laboux.

"Most relevant decision"

"In an extraordinary health context, the objective of the University of
Nantes is to do its best, both to guarantee the quality of the assessments, to maintain the regulatory deadlines to warn the students and ensure fairness between the candidates. This decision to organize the evaluation of lessons at a distance is the most relevant with regard to these three objectives ”, adds Olivier Laboux. Students will be informed of the terms by their faculty at least fifteen days in advance.

As a reminder, the lessons are not suspended but take place remotely. Aware of the risks of digital divide, the University of Nantes claims to have contacted all of its students to "identify those who encounter material difficulties, Internet connection or computer equipment and find solutions to remedy them as best as possible".
