The number of residents of the Mougins nursing home (Alpes-Maritimes) who died of coronavirus increased this weekend, going from 29 to 31, a spokesperson for the establishment told AFP on Monday.

The previous assessment communicated Friday by the private group Korian, which manages this establishment where 109 elderly people reside, had indeed recorded 29 deaths since March 20.

The staff screening results show that 14 of the 50 staff at this nursing home are positive for Covid-19, added the spokesperson for the establishment.

"We have started to do what is necessary on the spot to replace the personnel tested positive, who no longer comes to the site, by calling on the health reserve," he said.

"The screening of the other residents must start on Monday," he adds, explaining that sanitary measures have been taken, in particular by establishing two "waterproof parts" in the Ehpad.

On Saturday, the prosecutor's office in Grasse confirmed that a deceased resident family filed a complaint "against X for endangering the lives of others".

Several local elected officials have ordered the health authorities to carry out a full screening of residents and nursing home staff.

According to the Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur Regional Health Agency, 43 people have died from Covid-19 in hospitals in the Alpes-Maritimes since the start of the epidemic.
