To preserve Sala's approximately 500-year-old water system and ponds, trees have been cut down along the Green corridor. Opposition parties with Social Democrat Ulrika Spårebo at the head have come together and protested against how the felling was done.

Now only urgent measures will be taken in the future according to a decision that has been passed.

- We are not critical of the logging per se, but now we see a devastation where basically every tree is removed. There is no further plan and it is completely the wrong way to go. A holistic perspective is needed, ”says Ulrika Spårebo (S).

That's not true, says Anders Wigelsbo (C), the governing municipal council.

- Of course, we have had a plan on how to do this. All trees have been removed after an assessment, he says.

Exactly how the future of the vegetation around the dams looks is not yet clear, but more plans and evaluations are awaiting.
