  • Covid-19. Government ignored WHO five times in February

The Independent Trade Union and Official Central (CSIF), the majority union in the civil service, accuses the Government of having ignored the requirements of the World Health Organization (WHO), disclosed by EL MUNDO, in which it was urged to collect the necessary health material to face the coronavirus pandemic and, consequently, considers that the infections and deaths that have occurred among health personnel "may constitute crimes against workers for violation of labor prevention regulations, injuries and reckless manslaughter. "

In this sense, the union, which has already filed a complaint with the Supreme Court and has carried out legal actions in all the autonomous communities, notes that, despite the "slight improvement in healthcare pressure" that has been detected in the emergency departments of hospitals, ICUs "continue to be at the limit throughout the country" and indicates as affected those of the Community of Madrid , Salamanca and Cáceres .

The hospitals in the worst situation, according to their data, are those of Madrid , Vall d'Hebrón , Albacete , Soria , Segovia , Costa del Sol , General de Alicante , Alcázar de San Juan , La Fe de Valencia , Valladolid and Salamanca .

"The materials," denounces the union center, "arrive with droppers as well as the tests." And he adds: "Many are still stored awaiting distribution." For CSIF, it is essential to carry out the tests "immediately" on all health professionals in order to stop the chain of infection and even allow those who have been sent home for presenting symptoms to return to work, in the in case the test result was negative.

The union, despite admitting that the collapse of the emergencies has been "partially" solved by enabling spaces such as cafes, hallways and libraries and thanks to the entry into operation of the macro hospital built in Ifema , insists that the most serious problem it is still in the Intensive Care Units that are "at 300% of their real capacity".

The plant reviews the hospital situation and points out, for example, how the Gregorio Marañón in Madrid has expanded its useful space with an attached field hospital but is attended by the same personnel with the help of troops from the Provincial Rehabilitation Institute .

In Catalonia , both ICUs and emergencies are "on the edge" and in both the Bellvitge and Vall d'Hebron centers, the cleaning groups remain unprotected.

In Castilla y León , where the ICUs have not yet collapsed, there is a lack of nursing personnel, mainly in Soria and Segovia .

The Valencian Community , for its part, has saturated the ICUs of nine hospitals. In this case, CSIF uses its own data because, as explained, the Ministry of Health does not provide information to social partners.

In Andalusia , the situation is "uneven". Granada and Cádiz are of concern. The latter province due to the high number of infected professionals.

Castilla- La Mancha , according to the union, is experiencing the worst situation in towns such as Alcázar de San Juan and Toledo . However, Aragon has 35% free spaces in intensive care units but the pressure is gradually increasing and problems are already anticipated for next week. Nor is Extremadura currently experiencing saturation, but the Board is urgently calling for reinforcement of auxiliary nursing for residential centers for the elderly.
