Asma Darwish Al-Mesmari, one of the shadow heroes, the White Knights, who were working in silence, until the "Corona" epidemic appeared in the world, so he revealed to everyone their vital and essential role in dealing with the pandemic.

It also showed the high place that the Emirates girl booked in the first line of defense, to play an active role in serving the homeland, as she is the first to receive the patient with a smile that implanted hope, and the last one to bid him with a smile that spread reassurance within him.

Asma works as the acting director of the emergency unit, in one of the isolation hospitals. Since the spread of the Covid 19 virus, she has accepted the challenge, and she is determined to overcome the extraordinary circumstance that her country, as well as the world, is facing and overcoming it, to protect society, despite the difficulties that this imposed on her exposing herself to catch infection, the long working hours, as well as having to stay away About her family.

Asmaa told «Emirates Today»: «I work as an emergency nurse. This necessitates being in the front line to defend society and the homeland, and to work at a fast pace in the front rows to provide the necessary care to patients. This is what prompted us to develop an integrated plan to prepare for the disease, before the first HIV infection appears in the country. This also requires continuing to review all plans, arrange responsibilities and roles, and hold meetings and intensive training courses, to raise readiness to the highest level. That is why we succeeded in gaining everyone's trust, and we succeeded in returning the nursing profession to its true position. ”

She added: «We are ready to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of the safety of the homeland and everyone who lives on the land of precious Emirates. I know since childhood, before joining the university's nursing specialty, that the nursing profession is the most dangerous. With the beginning of the emergence of the new Corona virus, I felt a bit of a fear, but when our leadership described us as the first line of defense, I myself and every nurse or doctor removed any feeling of fear, and the matter turned into a challenge to prove that we deserve this description and this high confidence, and we insisted on providing the best ».

Asma continued: “I live with my father and mother, I am the main provider for them, but I have not seen them for more than two weeks, because of my fear for them in the event of infection, they are very old. I do not deny that I was affected by my distance from them, except that their understanding of the nature of my work and the extent to which patients currently need our efforts greatly support me. That is why I put all my energy into work, as I work more than 12 hours a day, until this period passes well, and society, and we are part of it, will return to normalizing life. ''

Asma mentioned that the medical staff is keen to adhere to the home stone throughout his stay outside the work, to ensure the safety of his family and those around him.

And she continued: «Very proud to describe our leadership to us as the first line of defense. Since we were young, we have dreamed of growing up and returning part of the beautiful homeland. This situation, despite everything, gives us an opportunity to do so. ”

And on working with patients since the emergence of the Corona virus globally, she confirmed the conduct of the initial (preventive) examination for all emergency attendants.

She explained that she was asking them a number of precautionary questions. If their answers are positive, they are referred to the doctor for a corona examination, and given medical instructions regarding the necessity of staying at home (home quarantine), and not being in contact with others, until the results of the examination appear.

She said: «The preventive measures that we take in the emergency emphasize treating each patient as a positive case, until proven otherwise, as we apply the highest precautionary standards based on the instructions issued by the Abu Dhabi Health Department, and we also wear protective clothing, masks, and gloves.

Asma added: “Our role is not only medical, but humane in the first place, especially that the patient comes to us loaded with many concerns and concerns, as a result of what he hears about Corona disease and its spread globally, and the failure to discover a treatment for it. Often the fears accompanying the patient are related to his family, whether his father and mother or his wife and children, so we reassure him and talk to him about the rates of recovery and the possibility of controlling the symptoms. We assure him that we will be with him around the clock, to help him, and implement the treatment plan that will determine for him until he heals and leaves the hospital in good health. ”

She pointed out that «Kurna is a global epidemic facing all countries of the world, and the UAE, with its future prospects, has prepared the necessary precautions before the first case of infection appears in the country. As doctors and nurses, we are ready to take on the challenge. What we need is community cooperation, and its commitment to the precautionary measures announced by the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the competent authorities to stop the spread of infection, by remaining in the homes. ”

Basic profession

Asma Al-Mismari confirmed that the nursing profession is one of the professions that did not take its right as a basic technical job in society, and that it faced many difficulties and challenges, because it was not socially capable, due to the fact that many people are unaware of the nature of the role the nurse plays, noting that “the Corona crisis gave the medical professions help "Her social standing due, as people know the importance of the nurse, and what he is doing to heal the sick."

She said that she chose the nursing profession with conviction, despite the fact that she skipped high school with a group that qualified to join the College of Medicine, but decided to join the College of Health Sciences, specializing in Nursing, at the University of Sharjah.

She added that she was afraid to choose her at first, but she was sure, through study and training, that it was the right choice.

“Preventive measures that we take in emergencies emphasize treating each patient as a positive condition.”

“My parents' understanding of the nature of my work and the extent of the patients’ need for us greatly supported me. ”
