The high cost of sugar exacerbates the hardship of the people of Gaza during Ramadan. The ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the complete siege imposed on it led to the loss of basic foodstuffs and a significant increase in their prices.

Sweets are a Ramadan ritual, but Gazans are unable to buy or make them due to the high price of sugar. The price of a kilogram of sugar in the markets has risen to about 70 shekels, as a result of the siege imposed by Israel.
