A motorist was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention, on the night of Friday to Saturday, in Nîmes (Gard). When he was suspected of driving without valid proof in the middle of a curfew, the municipal police carried out his check.

The man is then accused of having tried to flee, wounding a municipal police officer and hitting a vehicle of the national police, indicates Eric Maurel, the public prosecutor of Nîmes.

Tried in immediate appearance

The driver is also suspected of driving while intoxicated. The suspect should be tried in the next few hours in immediate appearance. He was prosecuted for assaulting the police, driving under the influence of alcohol, refusing to comply and breaching confinement.
