A source in the Al-Wefaq government said that Haftar's forces, backed by mercenaries from the Janjaweed, had tried to advance on the Abu Qurain axis, backed by artillery and missile strikes.

The source added to Al-Jazeera correspondent in Libya that the drones of Al-Wefaq forces and heavy artillery destroyed the vehicles and vehicles carrying ammunition, and the other with Grad missiles and Emirati armored vehicles.

For his part, the spokesperson for the media center for the Berkane Fury operation of the Al-Wefaq government, Mustafa al-Mujai, said that their forces launched an attack on the positions of Haftar's forces in the vicinity of the Al-Washeka area near Sirte (450 km east of Tripoli).

Al-Majei added to Anadolu Agency, "The attack came in response to the bombing of Emirates fighter jets - yesterday, Thursday - for one of our forces stationed in the Abu Qarain axis, which led to the death of 8 of our members."

He pointed out that their forces are making important progress towards the city of Sirte, and that the clashes are still continuing.

The media center for Operation Berkane Fury announced that the Libyan government of reconciliation forces had made progress in the Al-Towishah and Togar hubs south of Tripoli, and targeted sites for the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter.

Al-Wefaq forces released a video of what it said was a prisoner of Haftar forces, during which it confirmed the presence of Russian mercenaries on the fighting axes in Tripoli, especially in the Salah al-Din axis south of the city.

Aggression and warning
This comes while the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Libyan Accordance Government, Mohamed Siala, warned - in a letter to the Security Council - of a humanitarian catastrophe, as Haftar forces continued to bomb civilian and corrective facilities in the capital.

He expressed his hope that the council would take a decision to stop the aggression against Tripoli and protect unarmed civilians, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law.

Siyala also called on the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to punish Hifter and hold him directly responsible for bombing hospitals and residential neighborhoods, which he considered war crimes and crimes against humanity.

In his message, he said that the Al-Wefaq government is directing all its energies and efforts to confront the Corona virus, while Haftar continues to bomb civilians and residential neighborhoods.

Since last April 4, Tripoli - the headquarters of the internationally recognized government of Al-Wefaq - as well as its surroundings, have witnessed armed battles, after Haftar's forces launched an attack to control it amid a mobilization of government forces.
