A fire left one dead and one injured this Saturday in the 1st arrondissement of Marseille, we learned from firefighters. An apartment on rue Messerer caught fire around 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, the firefighters encountered a man poisoned by the smoke but who had managed to get out of himself. They then discovered, on the smoky staircase, an unconscious man. He was in cardiopulmonary arrest. The Samu doctor failed to revive him.

The fire was quickly put out by the 38 firefighters on site. The person intoxicated by the smoke was only slightly affected and was transported to the European hospital. A total of four people were relocated.
