“Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov was recognized as the most influential university in Russia,” the TASS press service reports.

It is noted that graduates of Moscow State University have a high influence on the formation of elites, the scientific community, youth and the Internet audience.

The rating of 75 higher education institutions was formed according to 15 criteria based on an analysis of university profiles and data from independent sources.

In particular, they used data from the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia on the employment of graduates, the Web Of Science Core Collection database, the Wikipedia Internet encyclopedia, Alexa web analytics, VKontakte and Facebook social networks, as well as RAEX own data.

In second place is St. Petersburg State University (SPbU) with a gap of almost two times behind Moscow State University.

The five leaders also included the Higher School of Economics National Research University (HSE), the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.

The top 10 influential universities in Russia included eight Moscow universities and two from St. Petersburg.

RAEX CEO Dmitry Grishankov explained that the capital “confidently wins the fight for strong applicants” who, after graduation, get more opportunities to build a successful career

“Subsequently, successful graduates have a direct impact on society - from political decisions and business strategies to scientific, ideological and cultural influence,” said Grishankov.

Earlier, nine programs of Russian universities were included in the top 50 subject ratings of the best universities in the world.

In 2019, the rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University Anatoly Alexandrov, in an interview with Nation News, rated the ranking of 25 Russian universities in the ranking of the best in the world according to the British company Quacquarelli Symonds.
