With raw cuts and collages of falsely neglected fabrics, Givenchy celebrated Sunday an "imperfect beauty" in a parade of women's ready-to-wear in Paris.

The 2020-2021 fall-winter collection is inspired by the "elusive" heroine of arthouse cinema and the Portuguese visual artist Helena Almeida who staged her own body in her performances.

Scarves are tied on the back or wrap bags, coats closed with a pin brooch worn with flesh-colored sandals as if the models were walking barefoot.

"It is a very imperfect beauty," said behind the scenes to AFP Clare Waight Keller, British artistic director of the French luxury brand.

"My body is my job," said Helena Almeida.

It is the sensuality released by the body language of powerful women that fascinates the British stylist who explores "hardness and softness" in this collection presented in Longchamp racecourse in Paris in a pavilion wrapped in red smoke.

The star model Kaia Gerber wears a red dress showing a naked leg with an integrated cape a set that unites clean and flexible lines.

If they are not covered by huge hats with soft and asymmetrical edges, the hair is smoothed and gummed, natural makeup.

Red is mixed with black, green with purple, white and black are available in striped or checkered prints or embroidery.

High gloves are put on suit jackets, coats or knitted dresses.

Long dresses are patchworks of prints, pleated, draped with the waist emphasized by a wide asymmetrical leather belt.

After making a collection of faux fur coats, then giving up this material judging that it was not very ecological, Clare Waight Keller returns to it again in this collection.

These new coats are made of pieces of different colors and textures.
