“The president determined the candidatures of 40 Russian citizens who have special services to the state and society, and sent them an offer to join the Public Chamber of Russia,” the statement said.

The composition of the Public Chamber is updated every two years. The final list of new members is planned to be announced in the summer.

Earlier, the co-chair of the working group on amending the Constitution of Russia, the head of the committee of the Federation Council on Constitutional Legislation, Andrei Klishas, ​​said that the Public Chamber would be able to appoint observers during an all-Russian vote on amendments to the country's main law.

The plans to regulate the monitoring from the Public Chamber were also confirmed by the co-chair of the working group Pavel Krasheninnikov.
