Marathon on frozen sea February 23, 6:37 pm

A unique marathon running on the frozen sea was held in Russia, where 1,300 runners, including more than 100 Japanese, ran on the ice. However, Chinese people could not participate due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

The marathon took place in Vladivostok, the Russian Far East, where the average winter temperature is minus 10 degrees Celsius, in an ice-covered cove approximately 1 meter thick.

The runners were divided into five divisions, such as a half marathon and a 10 kilometer race. Shoes were fitted with non-slip spikes, and they ran hard on a white course with ice as far as the eye could see.

About 1,300 runners participated, including about 100 Japanese.

A college student from Osaka said, "It was very fun, it was cold but it was warm when I ran."

A man from Kyoto said, "It was a very unique experience, the scenery was beautiful and the best."

On the other hand, the Russian government temporarily suspended Chinese entry following the spread of the new coronavirus, and initially 200 planned Chinese could not participate.
