February 23, 2020 The world coronavirus toll rises to 2,461 victims, according to the online map of the American Johns Hopkins University. According to published data, there are 78,766 confirmed cases of infection, including 76 Italians. Instead, 23,133 people have been cured to date.

The coronavirus toll in China reaches 2,442 deaths, after the other 97 victims registered yesterday, almost all, except one, in the province of Hubei . The National Exanitary Commission also confirmed 648 other positive cases. Most of the deaths and infections were recorded in Wuhan , where the virus first appeared in December. The total number of infected people in China reached 76,936 cases.

One of the passengers disembarked in Japan by the Diamond Princess tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday. It is a woman of about 60 years old, in the prefecture of Tochigi, north of Tokyo, who developed flu symptoms after having tested negative on the ship on February 14th.

The Japanese Ministry of Health reiterated that the health conditions of the 969 'healthy' passengers - who left the ship between Wednesday and Friday - will continue to be monitored, and that health authorities are watching very closely for the latest developments.

Meanwhile, on Saturday 26 new cases were registered in Japan, including an entire family of four, bringing the total to 769 in the country, including 634 cases aboard the Diamond Princess.

South Korea reported 123 new cases of coronavirus positivity. There are now 556 total cases in the country, where there have been a total of four deaths from the virus.
