The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to increase the transport tax on old cars

According to Kommersant, the ministry clarifies that the initiative concerns only commercial vehicles.

The proposal will soon be sent to the Ministry of Transport, said deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Alexander Morozov.

According to the traffic police at the end of 2018 (the latest relevant data), almost 60.6 million vehicles were registered in Russia.

Of these, passenger cars (total 47.4 million cars) of Euro-0 class - 2.1 million units, the first - 651.5 thousand cars, the second - 2.6 million cars, Euro-3 - 4.8 million cars.

However, the environmental class is not installed in 14.3 million cars.

Trucks in Russia registered 6.5 million units.

Of these, an environmental class has not been established for 2.6 million cars. Euro-0 includes 397.2 thousand cars, Euro-1 - almost 89 thousand cars, Euro-2 - 576.8 thousand units, Euro-3 - 1 million cars.

In September, it was reported that Moscow could abolish the transport tax for electric vehicles. The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said that the city authorities will contribute to the introduction of electric vehicles in the capital's infrastructure.
