Today, the verdict came against the eight boys who have been charged with involvement in a number of robberies and other crimes in southern Stockholm during the second half of 2019.

Four of them, all 16 years old, were sentenced by Södertörn County Court to juvenile care for, among other things, robbery. Among these are the two 16-year-old boys who assaulted 18-year-old Liam in December. In addition, one of them was sentenced to 50 hours of youth service and the other to 30 daily fines. Two people were released.

What do you think of the verdict against the boys?

- I have not read through the whole judgment properly but spontaneously I can say that the district court has judged as I expected them to judge, says Mirna Lelic.

Are you unhappy with something in the judgment?

- I can't say whether I'm happy or not. But something that deviates from my claim is that I had been calling for closed youth care for one of the defendants - who is one of the boys in the case of "Liam".

Sentenced for multiple offenses

The reason why the Prosecutor has sought private youth care for one boy was because he is "very criminal" and also involved in some of the other crimes, where he was sentenced, among other things, for unlawful detention.

"There, the district court has considered that youth care, which includes, among other things, placement in an HVB home for six months, is a sufficiently significant response to the seriousness of this crime," says Mirna Lelic.

Already forced

The other boy, who was the one who kissed and filmed Liam, was sentenced to juvenile care for robbery, court case abuse and illegal privacy infringement.

He has already been forcibly removed from the social service since mid-December and will continue to be.

- He is placed in a special youth home and initially it will be a so-called SiS home, which is a locked home. Afterwards, the social services can make an assessment of what is appropriate to do with him, says Mirna Lelic.
