The unexpectedly high cost of ice has led to the association having to raise money. One way is to turn to Skutskärsborna to get voluntary contributions.

- And it has succeeded well in the past, says Sören Sandström.

But the association also appeals to the municipality with an application for a loan. The sum the association wants to borrow is SEK 200,000.

"Not happened before"

It will be the municipal council and the municipal council in Älvkarleby municipality that will take a position on the bandy's loan application. Initially, they want to get numbers that the association can run a business that goes together.

But even though Skutskärs IF can perform such a report, it does not seem obvious that politicians agree to pay out any money.

- To me, it has probably not happened before that the municipality has given such a loan. We are not a bank, says Marie Pettersson (S), chair of the municipal council.

It is unclear if the business is threatened

How much money Skutskär's IF Bandy manages to raise from supporters and the general public remains to be seen. The association's representation team on the women's side has had great success, with a gold medal in 2018, and created commitment among the Skutskärsborna.

How the investment in the women's team, or the youth business, is affected if not enough money comes in from Skutskärsborna or if the loan from the municipality is not granted, the chairman of the association cannot decide right now.

- It's hard to say today, says Sören Sandström.
