by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 27 January 2020 The Attorney General of Catanzaro, Otello Lupacchini has been transferred to Turin with the position of Deputy Attorney General. This was arranged by the Disciplinary Section of the Superior Council of the Magistracy which accepted the precautionary requests made by the Minister of Justice, Alfonso Bonafede and by the Attorney General of the Cassation, Giovanni Salvi.

Today's order, which ordered the transfer of office of Otello Lupacchini to the Prosecutor General of Turin as substitute attorney general, followed up the disciplinary action promoted by the Minister of Justice Bonafede and by the Pg of the Cassation Giovanni Salvi against Lupacchini, accusing him of having "delegitimized" the prosecutor of Catanzaro Nicola Gratteri.

Prosecutor General Lupacchini spoke for three hours in front of the disciplinary section of the CSM called to pronounce on the request for transfer due to environmental incompatibility in the past weeks. All this was born from an interview released by the magistrate after more than two hundred arrests against the 'Ndrangheta. In defense of his client, his lawyer, Ivano Iai, specified that there had been no intention or desire on the part of Lupacchini to delegitimize or denigrate Gratteri and his substitutes.

During the hearing, the Attorney General hoped for a return to normal in the relations between his office and the Prosecutor of the Republic of Catanzaro while the lawyer Iai highlighted how there was the absence of a fumus of substantiation of the disciplinary action and the absence of the urgent need to provide for disciplinary measures because the office of the General Prosecutor's Office has ensured the good performance of justice in the Catanzaro Court of Appeal.
