The British Board of Film Classification has changed the rating of Mary Poppins. The new rating is for films in which the presence of parents is requested.

The change comes as the film prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year. It is possible that in the coming months, the film will be reclassified as a PG-rated film. The BBFC says the change is for the good of all, not just for the sake of the film's rating. The film was originally released in 1964, but the rating was changed to reflect the new rating.
