Among the eight Swedes who were prosecuted were, among others, Ericsson's former CEO Kurt Hellström and two former employees at Ericsson Microwave. A total of 21 people were indicted in this case, two of whom died during the process. People who handled and received the suspected bribes are convicted of money laundering, reports Ekot.

According to Ekot, Greek legislation has recently been changed, which means that it is not possible to convict for bribery that occurred over five years ago.

Suspicion of bribery

The background to the prosecution was that Ericsson employees were suspected of bribing high-ranking people in the Greek state with the equivalent of over SEK 100 million. The money would have been paid out, through an intermediary, in connection with the 1999 sale of the military radar system Erieye - a deal worth over SEK 4 billion.

The bribery allegations were revealed by Ekot 2014.
