- Dalarna can offer a lot of experiences on a small surface, explains Peter Lucas Dalarna's attraction.

Ten years ago, he, together with Hilje Blaauw and their children, started a campsite focusing on adventure and wilderness activities. Since then, guests have increased every year.

Exotic nature attracts

It is almost exclusively Dutch and some Belgians who come here, primarily in the summer time but in recent years even the winter weeks begin to be booked. The nature, tranquility and sparsely populated county are exotic to guests from the continent.

The Netherlands is one of four large nations that have a good eye for Dalarna. Otherwise, Danes, Norwegians and Germans are happy to come here. International tourists account for just under 15 percent, or about two million guest nights, in Dalarna and in the future it is believed that there will be more.

New airline draws British

For example, the UK is getting interesting now that there are routes from there to Sälen. But the premise is that the tourism companies and the authorities will be better at meeting the demands of foreign tourists.

However, Peter Lucas thinks that the dollar companies are generally good at taking care of foreign tourists.

- I don't have much to complain about. Västerdalarna may need to be better at informing about summer activities, they are very knowledgeable about winter tourism, but in the summer we sometimes act as a tourist agency, says Peter.
