According to article 112 of the Labor Code of Russia, rest on non-working holidays is not a basis for reducing the wages of workers.

“The guarantee for the preservation of wages is applied depending on the system of remuneration of the employer. For employees who receive a salary, the Labor Code establishes a guarantee under which non-working holidays in the calendar month are not grounds for lowering their salaries, ”said Ivan Shklovets, deputy head of Rostrud.

If employees work on piece-rate pay, they are entitled to additional payments for days on which they were not involved in work.

The size and procedure for such payments are determined by a collective or labor agreement or other agreements.

Earlier, Rostrud was reminded of two-day work weeks at the end of 2019 and at the beginning of 2020.

Expert Alexander Safonov in an interview with URA.RU warned that the introduction of a weekend on December 31 is fraught with new socio-economic problems for Russia.
