According to Izvestia, with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, we are talking about rapid testing. For him, for example, a non-contact alcohol detector can be used, which analyzes the air exhaled by a person, or a new portable paper narcosis for the traffic police, designed for rapid analysis of saliva for drugs.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that with their help they will conduct not the survey itself, but a preliminary check of the drivers. At the same time, drivers have the right to refuse research without consequences, the press service noted.

According to the new rules, even motorists who do not show external signs of intoxication can pass the test.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Federation of Car Owners of Russia, Sergey Kanaev, in an interview with Nation News commented on the proposal to introduce the confiscation of cars from drivers who repeatedly got behind the wheel while intoxicated.

In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law toughening punishments for drunken drivers whose actions led to serious injuries or death. So, for serious damage to health, the culprit of an accident can get from three to seven years in prison, whereas before the maximum punishment did not exceed four years. In the event of death of a person, the court may sentence the offender to 12 years in prison, with more victims - to 15 years. The State Duma noted that the threat of stricter punishment of the perpetrators of road accidents has proved to be an effective tool.
