This is how Harvey Weinstein acted with his victims

The trial against Harvey Weinstein is postponed until January on new charges

Producer Harvey Weinstein, accused of numerous charges related to sexual abuse of actresses and employees, has reached a tentative agreement valued at 25 million dollars (22 million euros) with about thirty victims who had sued him civilly and that It will allow you not to have to admit your misconduct.

The pact requires approval by the court and a final signature of all parties, as reported by The New York Times, which has advanced that negotiations between the lawyers of the victims and those of the Weinstein company, which will pay the payment, they are very close to close and in a preliminary approval situation.

Prior to the materialization of the agreement, a final, longer and more detailed document must be drawn up that will require approval by at least two judges, one from the federal court of Delaware that oversees the bankruptcy declaration of The Weinstein Company and another from the court New York federal.

However, the agreement may not thrive on objections from some lawyers representing victims who have not shown themselves in favor of sealing this resolution.

If approved, this pact would allow Weinstein to get rid of much of the allegations against him and his former company, The Weinstein Company.

The victims, mostly actresses and employees, have accused the producer of sexual harassment and rape.

This agreement is part of a general agreement valued at 47 million dollars (42 million euros) aimed at closing the obligations of the company, which is in the process of filing bankruptcy.

Also, other possible plaintiffs could be added later.

In any case, Weinstein will be prosecuted in early January during a criminal trial for sexual assault on two women.

This agreement reached by the producer is part of the issue through civil law and intense negotiations that lawyers of all parties have carried out with the legal representatives of many of the women involved in the alleged abuses.

More than 12 million (11 million euros) of the 25 would go to face the legal costs of Weinstein, to which any accusation against his person by the signatory victims would be withdrawn .

In addition, the agreement provides that both the producer and the board members of The Weinstein Company are isolated from any future liability.

One of the victim actresses, Katherine Kendall, has told the Times that she is disappointed with the terms of the agreement but has accepted them not to block other victims from accessing a reward.

"I don't like him, but I don't know how to go after him. I don't know what I can do," Kendall said.

The pact would end the demands presented since the scandal that would later result in the "Me too" movement was made public in 2017.

Of the 25 million dollars, 6.2 million (5.6 million euros) would be divided into 18 victims and none would get more than 500,000 dollars (almost 450,000 euros).

On the other hand, 18.5 million (16, 6 million euros) would go to those who are part of a class action lawsuit and another lawsuit filed by the New York Attorney General's Office, as well as for future plaintiffs in a process they would handle a professional appointed by the court and who would allocate the funds based on the seriousness of each case.
