"The federal government will discuss and decide on a further reaction ... The Russian side must make its contribution to the investigation of this murder," she said in an interview with Bild am Sonntag.

Earlier, German authorities announced the expulsion of two Russian diplomats.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that such a decision was made due to the fact that Moscow demonstrates insufficient efforts to cooperate in the investigation of the murder of a Georgian citizen in Berlin in August 2019.

According to the German Prosecutor General’s Office, there is ample evidence of Russia's involvement in this murder.

The department noted that the victim, according to witnesses, participated in the hostilities in Chechnya as part of illegal gangs in 2000-2004.

The Kremlin, in turn, said that assumptions about Russia's involvement in this murder are completely groundless.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Russia and the Federal Republic of Germany have channels for communication between law enforcement agencies, including for considering issues related to violation of the law.
