An Emirati company has developed a smart technology that enables its users, including people with disabilities who have a visual or cognitive impairment, to move independently without anyone's help inside enclosed spaces, including metro stations and public buses.

Annie Dave, director of technology development company CX Unicorn, told Emirates Today that it has been registered as a UAE innovation globally, and that the company plans to make it available nationwide starting from the emirate of Dubai. The first provider of technology testing facilities, and is currently studying how to benefit from its development to provide better services to its passengers, especially those of determination.

Dave explained that the technology has been developed, within the application of smart in door navigation app, can be guided by voice messages to the corners and various facilities within the places, adding that the company continues to update and develop the functions and features of the application, according to the needs of users, and based on their suggestions.

Dave stressed that the use of the application does not need to pay a fee, and can be used by individuals without the need for a particular device, as it can be used with devices «Android» and «ISO», and does not require a phone with certain specifications.

She explained that the importance of the application lies in the fact that it can be designed and changed specifications according to the type of user, needs and physical and mental capabilities, as well as according to the purpose of its use.

She continued: «The application can be used by all categories, but it is important for the people of determination, as its properties that it monitors and clears the path of the user, so as to keep him away from obstacles in the way, by giving him warning instructions about the presence of barriers or anything else that impedes his behavior».

She pointed out that the use of the application indoors does not require the presence of lines drawn Braille on the floors, which are provided to facilitate their use with the white stick, used by the blind.

Regarding groups of people with disabilities who can use the application, Dave stressed that it is available for groups with disabilities, such as autism, deaf and mute and visual disabilities, including the blind, as well as people with intellectual and motor disabilities, adding that the application can be used without the need for the Internet, as well as Helps the user plan his trip, and give him navigation options before he leaves home.

It is noteworthy that the application can be used in all languages, and was well received during his experience by people of determination.
