Alexa , Amazon's virtual voice assistant, could have a fundamental test to clarify a murder that took place in Hallandale Beach , Florida (USA) last July, a local media in the southeast of the state reported.
The police of that beach town think that the two Echo devices that Silvia Galva , 32, had in her house may have heard and recorded some of the words uttered before her death, which Adam Reechard Crespo , 43, is accused of years, he was her boyfriend.
According to Sun Sentinel , Crespo told police that on the day of her death they were both arguing when his girlfriend took a spear that was in the house.
Crespo turned around and when he looked again, he saw that Galva had the gun stuck in his chest and took it out because he thought the wound was not so deep.
Police asked Amazon for the recordings of the two Echo devices in Galva's house and the company sent them to them, but, a police spokesman told the newspaper, they have not yet finished analyzing them.
The Echo and Echo Dot devices are constantly alert while waiting to hear the word "Alexa", but they only listen and record from that word "alarm clock," an Amazon spokesman told the newspaper.
Nothing is stored in the cloud if there is no "Alexa" or another word chosen as a trigger by users, said spokesman Leigh Nakanishi.
