Investigators believe that lawyer Gonzalo Boye received 10,000 euros for collaborating in the laundering of Galician drug dealer José Ramón Prado Bugallo , Sito Miñanco. Sources close to the case explain that in the investigation into the alleged money laundering they found an entry that said "Gonzalo, 10,000 euros."

By order of the National Court, the police on Monday registered the domicile and professional office of Boye, who has gained public notoriety as a lawyer for former President Carles Puigdemont. Until only a few weeks ago he was also the lawyer of the Galician capo , who was arrested again for drug trafficking and money laundering last year.

Precisely, in a separate piece of that cause, Gonzalo Boye's intervention is investigated in the attempt to launder and recover 900,000 euros that the Police seized at the Barajas airport to several muleros who traveled to Colombia with the money on top.

The organization found that, in order for the Sebplac (Money Laundering Prevention Service) to return the money once the sanction was deducted, they needed to justify its lawful origin. That's where, according to the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office, Boye would have come into play.

The lawyer presented for it some bills of exchange that were valid, but corresponded to economic operations different from those alleged by those intercepted in Barajas. When the Sebplac reported that those documents had already been used before, it provided contracts that supported them.

A meeting in Vips of Madrid

One of those imprisoned in the operation against Sito Miñanco declared at the end of July at the Hearing that when the attempt to withdraw the money from Spain failed, the capo told them that they should go to Boye to solve it. And he added that it was the lawyer who drew up the contracts. The prisoner cited a meeting, dated June 28, 2017, with the lawyer in a Vips of Madrid, in which the alleged operation would have been negotiated.

Boye himself will offer his explanations to Judge María Tardón on Wednesday. The lawyer is cited to testify as charged with an alleged crime of money laundering drug trafficking, which carries penalties of up to six years in prison. Sources close to the case believe that it was an occasional service, so no other crimes or circumstances that would raise the possible conviction would apply. They add that, initially, the organization was going to work with another lawyer, but that he did not accept the assignment.

In fact, the lawyer already offered the judge and Anti-Drug his version of the facts in a brief presented on July 30. In the document, Boye says that the claim that "a plot to create an appearance of business reality that justifies the origin of money" is totally false.

Boye explains that, in effect, he provided "his professional services", but "claiming his client to provide documentation proving the origin of the money intervened." "The undersigned lawyer was hired to recover money seized by the competent authority and used for that purpose documentation provided by who claimed in the administrative file," he adds, thus leaving the responsibility to the members of the organization that made the assignment.

He also points out that it was he who contributed to the National Court the Sebplac file. As for the "reckless" statement against him of a prisoner, he says that he only has "self-exculpatory" spirit and, therefore, should be placed under suspicion.

Sources of the investigation insist on untying the operation that affects Boye from his work as a lawyer for Puigdemont.
