Today, there are several services and apps that allow the rental of private cars. Kim Wahlgren from Gothenburg has been registered as a lessor for over a year.

- For many, the car is the dearest property and such people may never have napped but for me the car is a vehicle for me from A to B and then this service is perfect, says Kim Wahlgren.

Covers the cost of the car

In one month, there have been up to 40 rentals for Kim, most of them rent the car for 24 hours.

- I've received between 2,000 and 2,500 a month. Most recently I received 4,000 SEK, when it gets so much I even go plus. Then it is more money than the car cost me, he says.

Kim Wahlgren believes the sharing economy will grow and he is not worried about letting others drive his vehicle.

Key in box in the car

When someone is going to rent out their car through the service that Kim uses, a box is installed in the car that prevents the car owner from handing out the key. The person who rents the car can then unlock the car using the BankID app. The box also has a GPS transmitter that tracks the car's position.

- If someone gets to steal the car, they shoot themselves in the foot because you have to use BankID to legitimize themselves, says Kim Wahlgren.

More shows interest

One of the companies involved in image sharing in Gothenburg is Ciao Ciao Carsharing. Today, over 1700 Gothenburg citizens use their app to rent a vehicle and they have 18 car owners registered. But CEO Carl Törnström believes the company will grow.

- About 300 car owners have reported interest in joining the service, he says.
