October 17, 2019The Atac bus driver was investigated for injuries and crashed into a tree in Rome on Via Cassia yesterday morning. The public prosecutor challenges the crime of injuries. The man will soon be questioned by the investigators. The agents will also hear the numerous witnesses present on line 301 yesterday morning. At the moment no runway is excluded: from the failure, to the distraction linked to the use of the telephone to an illness.

Two telephones have been seized from the driver of the bus of the 301 line which yesterday morning crashed into a tree at 484 Via Cassia, causing the wounding of about 60 people. On the incident the Rome Public Prosecutor opened a file for injuries. The driver of the vehicle will be listened to in the next few hours by the Roma Capitale police while waiting for the report on his health conditions. The tracks to be examined remain that of the distraction due to the use of a mobile phone, the technical failure but also the illness.

Also the medical report will be important to understand if the driver has suffered an illness. The technical report prepared by the public prosecutors in Rome is also awaited to verify the status of the public transport before the accident.

Codacons: "Passenger compensation now"
The Codacons will constitute an offended party in the investigation of the magistracy on the case of the bus finished yesterday against a tree on Via Cassia, and is ready to take action to ask for the necessary compensation towards the Atac.

"All the passengers on the bus are entitled to compensation, regardless of the injuries reported - explains the president Carlo Rienzi - In fact, what happened produced a situation of real danger for the users, as well as an evident stress for the passengers, which legitimizes the right to compensation in favor of travelers. In this sense we put ourselves at the disposal of the citizens involved in the episode to initiate legal actions against the company ". "And if irregularities or wrongdoing emerge from the prosecution's investigation, we are ready to request a maxi-indemnity from Atac on behalf of all users of public transport in the capital," concludes Rienzi
