LONDON (Reuters) - Lemon juice, alcohol, mayonnaise, baking powder and cinnamon should be used when preparing a skin care mask because these substances are harmful to the skin, the German magazine Veroniden warned.

Lemon juice can lead to skin pH disruption, and lemon acid may cause skin irritation and inflammation, and may make skin sensitive to ultraviolet light and susceptible to sunburn.

Similarly, baking powder disrupts the pH and injures the upper layer of the epidermis, making it susceptible to bacteria, redness and inflammation.

Alcohol deprives the skin of moisture, proteins and fats and destroys the natural barrier.

Mayonnaise causes clogged pores, and then the skin falls prey to blisters and impurities.

Cinnamon irritates and burns, disrupts the pH and damages the natural barrier.
