Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) has announced the start of the first phase of Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City and the reception of patients as of November 3, 2019, as a first step for the gradual opening of the new medical facility in Abu Dhabi. Saeed Jaber Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the Operational Committee of Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, explained during a tour organized by the media that the Medical City is the largest hospital in the UAE, with an area of ​​300 thousand square meters and contains 732 patient rooms, which includes 18 An equipped operating room, 40 recovery beds, and 26 premature infants' rooms, as well as a smart pharmacy, pointing out that the outpatient capacity ranges from 2500 to 3,000 patients per day.

The first phase of the opening of Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City will include the departments of general cardiology for adults, neurology for adults, ENT, gastroenterology, liver and ophthalmology, while the second phase of the opening will be gradual, end of 2019. Next year 2020.

He stressed that Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City was equipped with the latest equipment, especially operating rooms, which are equipped with an automated surgeon that performs important surgical operations accurately, efficiently and quickly, and contributes to the completion of operations in one hour instead of 5 hours, and the patient can be discharged from the hospital within one day instead of a week.

He said: "The smart pharmacy will provide services to customers through 18 windows at the same time and the dispensing of medicines automatically which makes the error rate is zero, while the 18 operating theaters are equipped with the latest devices, and controlled automatically in all stages, and is equipped with direct transfer of operations from Equipped with a high-quality imaging and voting system, the preterm care unit is equipped with the latest equipment.

He added: “Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City will provide healthcare to the highest international standards, through clinical consultations, which include four departments dedicated to emergencies and accidents, critical and surgical medical care, maternal and child health, outpatient clinics as well as many specialized surgeries, such as: Vascular, burns, trauma, chest and lungs, orthopedics and reconstructive surgery, along with a specialized neonatal unit

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City's Chief Operating Committee confirmed that SEHA is keen to improve the quality of health services provided to all Abu Dhabi residents through four areas: accessibility, medical outcomes, financial stability and patient satisfaction. "Aims to reduce waiting times for visits, waiting times for hospitalization and clinics, care and attention received by patients while in SEHA facilities in safe hands, and efficient patient management systems, as well as follow-up and care given by SEHA to patients after they leave their facilities." .
