Japan-Russia joint economic activities in the northern four islands Visiting Kunigo Island for concrete waste disposal September 14, 20:53

Among the joint economic activities of Japan and Russia on the northern islands, the Japanese officials visited Kunashiri Island on the 14th toward the realization of the waste disposal field, and collected and separated garbage on the island. I confirmed the landfill.

There are eight people visiting Kunigo Island, including staff from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nemuro City, and a company operating a garbage recycling plant in Hokkaido.

The group will enter Kunigo Island on the 13th, and will conduct an inspection until 15th in order to materialize the cooperation in the waste disposal field of the joint economic activities in the northern four islands based on the agreement between the two leaders.

On the 14th, in the central city of Kunigo Island, Kamabu, we checked the collection location of household waste and the status of separate collection of PET bottles.

After this, I visited a garbage reclamation site in the suburbs of Kamabu, and since there was no garbage incineration facility on the island, I received explanations from the Russian staff about the situation where everything except plastic bottles was buried as it was .

Based on this visit, the group plans to discuss with the Russian side what kind of activities will be carried out for waste disposal and weight reduction on the island.
