The French skaters Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprès, the reigning European champions, have decided to continue their career until the JO-2022 and, with this in mind, to spare themselves this season with a "reduced program", they announced Friday.

James, who will be celebrating his 32 years in a few days, and Ciprès (28), will not participate in the Grand Prix circuit that occupies the first half of the season, and which they won the prestigious final last winter, or World Championships next March, in Montreal.

The French pair could however defend its European crown in Graz, Austria, in January.

"We decided to continue until 2022 to finish our career on the Olympics-2022 and World-2022 in France, in Montpellier. We were not ready to leave for three years non-stop," Ciprès explains. AFP.

This winter is "a transition season for us, with a reduced schedule," he continues.

The duo, world bronze medalist in 2018 and fifth in the 2018 Olympics, hesitated between skating a last season or pushing the Olympics to the end.

If they will remain based in Florida, where they have been working for three years under coaches John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana, James is preparing to participate in a Canadian reality show featuring skaters and hockey players. Here, he takes the opportunity to train, while continuing to train in Paris.
