Trump ruled out the possibility of appointing Pompeo to replace Bolton
US leader Donald Trump said he was not considering Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, as his national security assistant. This was reported by the press service of the White House.
“No,” Trump answered the question about the possibility of appointing Pompeo to the post of National Security Advisor to the US President.
He also said that he was discussing this issue with Pompeo, who said that "he would like someone else to take this post."
Trump noted that 15 candidates are currently applying for the position.
Earlier, CNN reported that Trump is considering combining Pompeo's two posts.
On September 10, Trump sacked his National Security Advisor, John Bolton, due to numerous disagreements on a number of issues.
