The military court in Ouagadougou delivered its verdict on Monday in the trial of the failed coup of 2015.

The verdict of the military court of Ouagadougou, Monday morning September 2, marks the epilogue of a long serial soap in Burkina Faso.

General Gilbert Diendéré, ex-right-hand man of former President Blaise Compaore, convicted of " an attack on state security, murder, assault and incitement to commit acts of indiscipline ", is condemned to 20 years in prison.

General Djibril Bassolé is sentenced to 10 years in prison for "treason". As for the members of the commando who made the arrest and sequestration of the Transition authorities, they were sentenced to 15 to 19 years in prison.

Verdict hailed

About ten people, including civilians, were acquitted. And all the convicts lose their different decorations.

On site, the Association of Injured and Parents of Victims welcomed this verdict. According to them, the holding and the end of this trial are already a victory for the people of Burkina Faso.
