In Burkina Faso, it is in principle this Monday, September 2, that the military court of Ouagadougou announce its verdict in the context of the trial of the failed coup d'etat of September 2015. A marathon trial that took place over nearly 18 months , with 84 accused in the box including General Gilbert Diendéré, former chief of staff of the Presidency, Djibril Bassolé, former foreign minister.

While some accused have clearly acknowledged their involvement in the arrest and sequestration of the transitional authorities in court, others have simply dismissed all the charges against them. The prosecutor had requested life imprisonment for the alleged coup plotters.

Guy Hervé Kam, one of the victims' lawyers, said he was satisfied with the trial itself, which some people did not imagine. " The decision of the court that will intervene, it will undoubtedly to appease the hearts because everyone already knows the truth, " he argues.

On the side of defense , it is appeasement that is also advocated. " We dare to hope that he will come out of this trial a decision well stamped with reason to appease all hearts, " says Master Zaliatou Aouba.

As for the supporters of General Djibril Bassolé, against whom the military prosecutor has demanded life imprisonment, they still denounce a political trial. " We hope that the court impartially will say the right, only the right, " said a leader of Nafa, the party that supports the former boss of Burkinabe diplomacy.

The supporters of General Gilbert Dienderé are on the same wavelength as Me Hermann Yaméogo, one of the accused. " The place of General Diendéré is not in prison, but the front to fight against terrorism, " he had hammered during his last speech in court.
