Priest is being investigated for suspected child porn crime

On the bus trip to the confirmation camp, the confirmants seemed to see that the priest was looking at child porn on his service Ipad, according to information to TT. During the journey home, the same thing happened, when one of the Confirmants stealthily filmed and sounded alarms to the church staff.

The congregation, located in Stockholm diocese, reported the incident to the police and the priest was suspended pending investigation.

Ann Tranefalk, head of the Stockholm Police Children's Porn Group, confirms that the police report has been passed on to them.

TT: Does that mean there are suspicions of child pornography crimes?

- Yes exactly.

- We are investigating certain seizures. Before we go through them, I can't say anything else, says Tranefalk.

The seizures should touch both the filmed material and the tablet, which according to witnesses should have been relevant, she says.

- Then you have to take it with caution. It is witnesses who have seen this and it is often misunderstood. One must be careful about the suspicions simply.

The pastor of the church has previously informed the chapter of the court, which investigates the suitability of priests, and the bishop on the matter. Before any decision is made by them, wait for the police investigation. Until then, the priest has been suspended.

- We have returned to normal business. We have to do this legally, so we wait for the police investigation before we make any judgments of any kind, says the church shepherd.
