When the company Good before the summer announced that it would close the route between Jönköping and Stockholm, it came as a cold shower for the airport. This meant that all regular flights were gone. Since then they have been working to find a new operator, and on Monday morning it was time for the premiere tour with Leap Air.

- Of course, it feels incredibly good. It is extremely important for Jönköping Airport to have regular traffic both domestically and internationally, there is no doubt about it, and it has been a long stop now since Bra stopped flying in June, says Rony Forsberg, CEO of Jönköping Airport.

The premiere tour was celebrated with cake and ribbon cutting, before the sixteen passengers could board the plane that has over thirty seats

Hope to attract passengers

Leap Air will fly with 15 flights a week in each direction between Jönköping and Arlanda. Rony Forsberg hopes that the new venture will succeed, despite several companies having previously given up.

- On the one hand, you have to work extremely hard with this whole thing with aviation and climate anxiety and try to be so environmentally friendly it just goes, but of course it is also a matter of marketing and profiling such a line.

But is Jönköping really needed a line to Stockholm considering the situation?

-Absolutely. It's not just about going to Stockholm - it's also about moving on in our elongated country and beyond into the world and Arlanda is such a hub from such a perspective.

Negotiates on international traffic

At the same time, airport management is currently negotiating with companies to get international traffic started as well, and there are plans for a connection with both Copenhagen and Frankfurt.

- We hope to be able to sew it together in the fall, says Rony Forsberg.
