“On August 25, 2019, a convict serving a sentence in PKU IK-14 of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Rostov Region, without proper supervision, escaped from the territory of the penal colony,” the agency’s website said in a statement.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact on the grounds of negligence.

Currently, the investigation establishes the officials of the correctional institution involved in the incident.

In mid-April, nine inmates escaped from the temporary detention center of the Russian Ministry of the Interior, Barun-Khemchiksky, in Tuva.

In early May, they were all detained.
