Exactly how the criminals get the explosive in Sweden does not know the bomb protection. But they note that the customs' ability to control imports is very limited.

The design of the bombs varies. National bomb protection has found both time and remote triggering devices this year.

- There are trends in this depending on access. In some periods there have been more hand grenades and in other periods more pure explosive charges, says Jon Wåhlander, operations manager at the National Bomb Protection.

Recently, they have also handled several cases with so-called "bangers", a type of pyrotechnics with loud banging.

Large fittings in Poland

In December last year, Europol made a big hit in Poland, where they seized almost 100 tonnes of illegal pyrotechnics that were to be sold via the Internet to, for example, Sweden.

This, according to the national bomb protection, had a temporary effect, but now the supply seems to have increased again.

In addition, a new type of banger with higher explosive power has begun to emerge. They have been thrown at, among other things, a tram in Gothenburg, a police car and into an apartment and are described to have great explosion.

"Where we have seen more physical conflicts in the past, we can now see the use of explosives," the bomb protection investigator writes in the report.

"Danger to children playing outside"

Although the majority of blasts have occurred in the evening and at night, people have been injured and the fact that more and more explosions are happening in environments where many people are staying are concerned about national bomb protection.

“One of the major risks that blasting poses in a state environment is the amount of ice shatter that spreads and causes great harm to people and animals. The split spreads a long way and will for a long time pose a danger to children playing outside, ”they write in their report.
