“From the beginning of the year (from December 28, 2018 to August 16, 2019), 57 301 people fell ill with measles - 27 039 adults and 30 262 children, 18 people died from measles complications,” the department said.
The center specified that since the outbreak of the disease, which began in the summer of 2017, more than 115 thousand people fell ill with measles, 39 of those who died.
According to the agency, over the past week, measles in Ukraine fell ill 203 people, including 65 children.
In May, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that Ukraine accounted for 70% of all measles infections in Europe in the first months of 2019.
