The alarm came just after half past three on Saturday afternoon. Two people, a man and a woman, were in a canoe in the waters west of Ulvön when the canoe hit the wind in the rough wind and edged.

- It has blown heavily at sea and been high during the day, says Jörgen Seijsing, internal commander at the rescue service in Örnsköldsvik.

The woman managed to get ashore and sound an alarm. The man who is thus in his 30s was missing. As a result, a larger rescue effort was initiated where, among other things, the Maritime and Air Rescue Center was connected.

No signs of life

At 3.30 pm the message came that the missing man was found in the water and taken to Örnsköldsvik hospital by helicopter.

According to the police bulletin, the man was lifeless when he was picked up from the water. His condition is serious and the situation is critical.

According to information from the police, the woman must be physically injured.
