The Swedish actress Bibi Andersson is dead. This confirmed her daughter to the news agency AFP. Andersson died on 14 April in Stockholm, she was 83 years old. According to The Washington Post, the Swedish Film Institute said Andersson had been receiving medical treatment since a stroke in 2009.

The actress became known through her roles in the films of Swedish master director Ingmar Bergman, including "Wild Strawberries", "The Seventh Seal" (both 1957) and "Persona" (1966). Bergman died in 2007.

Even as a 15 -year-old Andersson had started to work with Bergman - as a soap advertising actress. She shot films until 2009 and has received numerous awards throughout her career. In 1963 she won the silver bear of the Berlinale for her role in "Sleeping Compartment" by Swedish director Vilgot Sjöman.
