For the murder of TV presenter Viktorija Marinowa, a young Bulgarian has now been sentenced to 30 years in prison. A court in the northern Bulgarian city of Russe imposed the prison sentence after a summary trial, the news agency BTA reported.

The perpetrator had admitted the rape and the brutal murder of the 30-year-olds. Therefore, the usual for similar offenses lifelong imprisonment was reduced to 30 years imprisonment.

It is an act of sexual motives, which is not connected with the professional activity of the victim, said the responsible prosecutors. Before the rape and the murder, the culprit had taken alcohol.

Marinova, presenter and director of administration of the local television station TVN, was raped and murdered on 7 October last year in a park on the banks of the Danube in Ruse. She had gone jogging there. The then 20-year-old culprit fled to his family in Germany, where he was caught after four days in Lower Saxony Stade.
